The blonde ale doesn’t get much respect. It’s the style people order when they don’t know what to order, the one that gets written off as a beginner beer — approachable to the point of being invisible. Which misses what it actually is.
Blonde ale is American craft’s answer to the mass-market lager: brewed with ale yeast but fermented clean, built on pale malt with just enough hops to keep it interesting. No hiding behind roast, no big bitterness, no fruit-bomb yeast character. When something’s off in a blonde, you taste it. That’s a harder beer to brew well than most people give it credit for.
Base Knocked lands at 6% and 27 IBUs — a step up in body and bittering from where the style usually sits, without giving up any of the drinkability. Light gold, soft malt sweetness, a clean finish that keeps you coming back.
